Ted Larry Busby

Ted Larry Busby, 77, of Wynne, Arkansas, passed away on March 31, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on November 13, 1948, in Forrest City, Arkansas, to Dewitt Busby Sr. and Rosie Mae Britton Busby. Ted graduated from Forrest City High School in 1966 and proudly enlisted in the United States Army in 1967, serving his country until July 1973. Following his military service, he began his career with Pepsi Cola, where he worked from 1972 to 1982, and at the time of his passing, he was the last surviving Forrest City Pepsi Cola employee. He continued his career as an over-the-road truck driver from 1982 to 1992. From 1992 to 2016, he worked as a fuel tanker driver for the St. Francis County Farmers Association. He later drove for Helena Chemical Company from 2016 until his retirement in 2018 due to health concerns. Ted was an active member of the Jaycees Club and found great joy in coaching little league football and softball. He was a devoted member of Wynne Baptist Church. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, planting a garden each year, and traveling. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family, especially watching his grandchildren participate in sports. He is survived by his loving wife, Diane Shipley Busby; his children, Larry Busby and wife Carla of Forrest City, and Jessica Busby Johnson and husband Justin of Wynne. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Cody Garner of Jonesboro, Allie Johnson, and Casen Briley, of Harrisburg, and Palin Johnson of Wynne. He leaves behind bonus grandchildren, Keaton Johnson and Parker Shotts of Fayetteville, and Chase Peevy of Wynne; as well as bonus great-grandchildren, Eli Peevy and Cecily Peevy. Ted is also survived by his sisters, Lady Gilmer and the late Harold Gilmer of Colt, and Wanda Speer and husband Wayne of Colt; his brother, Johnny Busby of Colt; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and many faithful friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewitt Busby Sr. and Rosie Mae Britton Busby and his siblings, Carolyn Busby Dulaney, William Busby, Bud Busby, Shirley Busby Hoots, Pat Busby, and Dewitt Busby Jr. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of St. Bernard’s Medical Center and Gentiva Hospice for the compassionate care they provided, allowing Ted to remain in the comfort of his home surrounded by those he loved. Services will be held at Wynne Baptist Church, 11:00 A.M., Friday, April 3, 2026, with burial in Cogbill Cemetery in Wynne.
