Richard Larry Jones

Richard Larry Jones, 87, of Wynne, Arkansas, departed this life on June 14, 2024, at his home with his family. He said many times this was a promotion, as he knew he would be with the Lord. Larry was born in 1936, in Vanndale, Arkansas. A graduate of Vanndale High School, Larry worked for the railroad for a year. He then went on to college at Arkansas State University. He taught school in Palestine, was a fuel distributor for Texaco, and spent the majority of his life running the NAPA Parts Store in Wynne. Larry was a member of Wynne Baptist Church, where he was a deacon for many years. He also worked with the Boy Scouts for many years, transporting kids to different camps. He loved life, and he loved adventures. Some of those adventures were fondly called a "Larry Jones adventure" by his family. Larry loved his family. He loved God. He loved to fish and hunt. He loved to garden and grill out. He loved driving out on the Bay Road. He loved taking historical vacations, always stopping at the historical markers. Traveling with him was like taking a trip with a travel guide. He knew history. Larry was always willing to help people in need. He was a true Renaissance man. Preceded in death by his parents, Elma Graves Jones and Sam Preston Jones, an infant daughter, wives, Mayo Riley Jones and Betty Allen Jones, brothers, Harold Jones, James Ray Jones, W.B. Jones, A.D. Jones, and sister, Norma Clay Harrell. He leaves behind his daughter, Elizabeth (Beth) Jones Barnes and her husband Mark Barnes, of Wynne, his son, Richard Riley Jones, and wife Haley Wixon Jones, of Jonesboro, and grandchildren Desmond Riley Jones and Anna Claire Jones, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Wynne Baptist Church from 10 AM until 11 AM. Funeral services will follow at 11 AM with Bro. Don Dunavant and Bro. Matt Dunavant officiating. Burial will be in Cogbill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Akin Cemetery, P. O. Box 1407, Wynne, Arkansas, 72396 or to Wynne Baptist Church, P. O.
