Barbara Chappell Watson

Barbara Chappell Watson, age 78, passed away peacefully, with her husband by her side, on Wednesday, June 26, 2024. She was born on August 15, 1945, in Wynne, Arkansas. She was a loyal member of the Wynne Church of God for 44 years. Barbara raised three children on her own until marrying Johnny Watson on June 27th, 1981, when they became a blended family of two daughters and four sons. Barbara and Johnny were married one day short of 44 years. Barbara loved her family very much, including, daughters, Tina Middleton Adams and Kevin of Jonesboro, Jennifer Watson Sanders of Jonesboro, sons, Floyd (Eddie) Middleton and Shawna of Horseshoe Bend, Mike Middleton of Marianna, Randy Watson of Wynne, and William Watson of Wynne, sisters, Brenda Blake of Wynne, Retta Barr and Jim of South Carolina, brothers, Don Chappell of Wynne, Ronnie Chappell of Wynne and Rodger Chappell and Cheryl of Mountain Home, eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren rounded out the group. She is preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Chappell and Inola Chappell, brother, Larry Chappell, sister-in-law, Valerie Chappell Miller and grandson, Matthew Middleton. Barbara was industrious, working many different jobs. She was the President of the Community Involvement Team for Levi Strauss, where she worked for many years. She was the bookkeeper and boss over Johnny Watson both for farming and trucking operations. She assisted her daughter in opening and operating a retail antique and home décor business and worked part time for Spencer Motor Company. Barbara was an excellent seamstress; she loved gardening and grew the most beautiful flowers. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Kernodle Funeral Home from 12:30 pm until 2 pm. Funeral services will follow at 2 pm with Rev. Tim Gabbard officiating. Burial will be in Ellis Chapel Cemetery in the Jolly Ellis community. Pallbearers will be Jon Middleton, Will Watson, Preston Dennis, Austin Dennis, Devin Chappell and Kenton “KT” Shahan. Barbara’s family would like to express sincere gratitude to the staff at Woodruff County Health Center for the wonderful and devoted care of Barbara and their family.
