Alice Haynes

Alice Janesta Neill Haynes died at the age of 86, on July 3, 2012, under the care of Patient’s Choice Hospice of Forrest City, and of Elder Care of Wynne caregivers Emma Futch, Pat Grisales, and Michelle Neal. Mrs. Haynes was born November 24, 1925, and lived in the Pinetree Community all her life. She was preceded in death by parents Joe Luallen and Mamie Blanch Jackson Neill; husband Alton Howard “Jack” Haynes; brothers William Harold Sr., Justin Jackson, and Bobby Basil; sister Violet Lorene Neill Adams; nephew Coy Nathan Adams; and, cousin Frances Cora Jackson Cook. Mrs. Haynes is survived by nieces Linda Sue Neill Bauldry of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, and Ruth Ann Neill Rogers of Statesboro, Georgia; nephews William Harold “Bill” Neill Jr. of College Station, Texas, and Henry Gaylon Adams of St. Ann, Missouri; cousin-by-marriage Vernon Cook of Pinetree, Arkansas; niece-by-marriage Marie Hillyard Adams of Searcy, Arkansas; and, several great nieces and nephews. As a teenager and young woman, Alice eagerly awaited letters from her three brothers, all of whom served in the U.S. Army during World War II. In their absence, she helped her parents on the farm as best she could. Alice was a graduate of Forrest City High School. Throughout her adult life, she was known for her home-making and sewing skills, her cooking, and her love of vegetable and flower gardening. An employee of Warwick and then Sanyo Industries, she retired to care for husband Jack. Alice was a loving wife, sister, daughter, and aunt; and, she cared for her mother and husband faithfully during their final illnesses. Alice valued her friends in the community and friends from her work at Warwick and Sanyo. In her later years, she made new friends while working part-time at Wilkins Dress Shop in Colt; and, she loved to purchase new dresses and accessories at the shop. Alice rediscovered her love of dancing at Patterson and Wynne Senior Citizen Clubs where she enjoyed many evenings of socializing. Visitation will be at Kernodle Funeral Home in Wynne on Thursday, July 5, 2012, 9 to 10 AM with services following at 10 AM, with burial in Barnishaw Cemetery in Pinetree. In Alice’s memory, donations may be made to Patient’s Choice Hospice, 310 N. Forrest, Forrest City, AR 72335.
