Lois Jodie Perkins

Lois Jodie Jamieson Perkins, aged 97 years, passed away at CrossRidge Community Hospital in Wynne, Arkansas January 25, 2019, following an extraordinary life. Lois was born December 8, 1921, at Cherry Valley, AR. She was the daughter of the late Emmet and Edith Kendall Jamieson. She was given the name “Mottie” by her first grandchild Pam Rotter, and many knew her by that. Survivors include one son, Jackie Vance Perkins (Sally) of Tumbling Shoals, AR, daughter, Annette Crockett (Robert) of Wynne, AR, Donna Vaught (Sam) of Hickory Ridge, AR, and grandchildren Pam Rotter (Steve) of Heber Springs, AR, Brad Perkins (Judy) of Lonoke, AR, Jackie Hathcock (Rusty) of Wynne, AR Melanie Ball of Nashville, TN; Michelle Turner (Chris) of Franklin, TN, Rob Crockett (Mariela) of Mt Pleasant, TX, Eric Vaught (Kelly) of Hickory Ridge, AR, and Bryan Armstrong (Annette) of Benton, AR. She is also survived by 20 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren and a fourth on the way; sisters-in-law Bonnie Jamieson of Wynne and Kimmie Jamieson of Tucson, Arizona. She leaves many nieces and nephews. Also recognized is Daniel Morales (Darene) of Hope, AR who came from Costa Rica to live with the Perkins in 1973 and studied at Arkansas State University. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Drewrey Vance Perkins, parents, Emmet and Edith Jamieson, brothers, J.W. Jamieson, Sewell (Mary) Jamieson, Lowell (Beulah) Jamieson; Erwin (Dora) Jamieson; Bernice (Jewell) Jamieson, Dale (Odom) Jamieson, and Wayne Jamieson, and her precious granddaughter, Kelley Vaught Armstrong. Mrs. Perkins grew up in the Pleasant Hill community of Cross County, attended the one room Marvin School and graduated from Vanndale High School. She married Vance Perkins on June 24, 1939, and they lived on their farm west of Vanndale most of their lives. He was a farmer and land owner, and she was a homemaker. When Mr. Perkins retired, they built a home in Wynne where she resided. Together they made a unique team of working hard together to provide for their family. Their home was always the hub of family gatherings. She was a faithful member of the Vanndale Baptist Church. In her church she served the Lord by working with children, Acteens, Youth, and WMU. She taught various Sunday School classes, and Vacation Bible School groups and worked at the Tri County Youth Camp. Her hobbies included beautiful sewing, embroidery, reading, traveling, cooking, decorating her home, and writing poetry. She was actively involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She always wanted to write a book, and often said it would have been called "Thanks for Listening". She always gave an encouraging word to anyone going through difficulty and trials. She was a breast cancer survivor. “Mottie” loved celebrating Christmas and all holidays with her family. Her family was her greatest joy. Her family treasures the memories made in the home of Mottie and Gramps. She traveled to many places in the United States, and abroad - including the Holy Land, Costa Rica, Argentina, Mexico, Austria and Germany. One of her favorite places to visit was Branson, MO where she and her husband often went to attend some of their favorite shows and enjoy the beautiful scenery. She loved sharing about her trips and places she had enjoyed visiting. Her family wishes to thank Dr. Willard Burks for being her faithful doctor during these many years and the CrossRidge Community Hospital and staff for their excellent care. Also, they wish to acknowledge the loving care received by the three special ladies that helped care for her – Barbara Hoffman, Vicki Holzhauer of Wynne, Ar and Mildred Waldo of Vanndale, Ar. during the last few years. Pall bearers will be her grandsons, Eric Vaught, Rob Crockett, Brad Perkins, Bryan Armstrong, Rusty Hathcock, Steve Rotter and Chris Turner. Honorary pall bearers who serve will be great grandsons - Parks Ball, Brock Hathcock, Zack Perkins, Zach Baker, Andrew Armstrong and Kip Tracy. Visitation will be held at Kernodle Funeral Home, January 28, 2019, from 10-12:00 PM. A Celebration of Life service will be at 12:00, and interment will follow at the Vanndale Cemetery. Officiating will be Bro Wayne Baldwin and Bro Robert Crockett. Memorials may be given to the Vanndale Cemetery, c/o Glenda Adams P.O. 49 Vanndale, AR 72387; or the Vanndale Baptist Church, P.O.
