    Faylen Miller Chism

    February 6, 1937 - January 26, 2022

Faylen Miller Chism was born in McCrory, Arkansas to Elbert and Mildred Taylor Miller on February 6, 1937. She married the love of her life, Mr. Fred Eugene Chism, on October 28, 1955, and they enjoyed 59 wonderful years together until his death on December 2, 2014, living most of their married life in Wynne. A brother, Sherman Elbert Miller, and an infant great-granddaughter, Elena Grey Dobson, also preceded Mrs. Chism in death. Faylen was a devoted member of Connect Point Church in Forrest City. She cherished fellowship with the church members there, and attended every service that she could, always with enthusiasm. She found joy in lending a helping hand wherever she could and supplied food for various church functions and activities. Faylen was a lover of nature and could out-hunt and out-fish the rest of the family. She had a green thumb when it came to gardening and had a great talent for canning, making delicious jelly, and keeping her freezer full of delicious homegrown food for many good meals for her family. She always went all out when cooking for holidays or special events, supplying enough food to feed an army. She made special efforts to fix something each attendee liked. In her later years, she enjoyed keeping her beautiful flock of hummingbirds happy and fed. She was a nurturer of the earth and found joy in taking care of God’s creations, as well as her family. Faylen is survived by four sons, Eugene Chism (Jan) of Caldwell; Everette Lewis Chism of Wynne; Gary Chism (Nikki) of Salem; and Joseph Chism of Wynne; and one daughter, Rose Mary McNew (Billy) of Forrest City. She is survived by eight grandchildren, Jeffery Chism (Joella) of Flippin; David McNew (Brittany) of Fayetteville; Renee Marshall (Benji) of Olive Branch, MS; Steven Scott of Wynne; Silas Chism of Jonesboro; Laura Dobson (Jasen) of Wynne; Bonnie Champion of Wynne; and Aaron Chism (Nichole) of Van Buren; seventeen great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way. Pall bearers include Billy McNew, Jeffery Chism, David McNew, Jasen Dobson, Aaron Chism, Walker Dobson and honorary pall bearer Jerry Jaroe. Pastor Allen Calvert of the Connect Point Church is officiating. Services will be Monday, January 31, 2022, at Connect Point Church, 4190 N. Washington Street, Forrest City, Arkansas. Visitation with family will begin at 1 p.m. with funeral to follow at 2 p.m. Kernodle Funeral Home of Wynne is in charge of arrangements. You may sign an online guestbook at www. kernodlefh.com
