Doris Gaye Morris, 86, of Jonesboro, Ark., died on Monday, June 8, 2020. She was born on March 29, 1934, to the late Walter and Ida Spence. She was raised in Whitehall in Poinsett County. Gaye was one of seven children with three brothers, Orville, W.B. and Charles, and three sisters, Carmen, Mary Lee and Jewel. She married her husband of 24 years, the late Robert Morris, Sr., on Dec. 20, 1953. They had six children. She retired in 2013 after working 32 years at Dillard’s Department Store in Jonesboro. She was a member of the Jonesboro Master Gardeners Club. Gaye was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Morris, children, Patsy Lynn and James, her parents, Walter and Ida Spence, her brothers and sisters, Carmen and Jewel. She is survived by her children, Lynda Nash and husband Rush of Jonesboro, Cindy Morris of Little Rock, Robert Morris and wife Janice of Wynne, and Mary (Jodi) Morris of Little Rock, grandchildren, William Crowder and wife Amber of Jonesboro, Tyler Nash and wife Charity of Jonesboro, Sarah Morris of Little Rock, and Elizabeth Montgomery of Wynne, LaDonna Joplin of Jonesboro, and Rush Nash III and wife Sharmin of Arnold, Mo., 13 great-grandchildren and sister, Mary Lee Mann. Graveside services will be Thursday, June 11, 2020 at 11 AM at Crosslawn Cemetery in Wynne. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 before the service at Kernodle Funeral Home.
