Cornelia Evalou B. Creager, 82, of Hickory Ridge, Arkansas, died on Friday, January 22, 2021, at CrossRidge Hospital. Eva was born in Tilton, Arkansas, on April 27, 1938, to the late Reuben Fay and Hazel Baldwin Burns. Eva spoke often and fondly of growing up on her family farm in Tilton. She enjoyed attending church with her family and the community and playing outdoors with her friends. She told many stories about how she was so blessed to have the childhood she experienced. Eva loved the Lord with all her heart. She was a good & faithful servant to her Heavenly Father. Her biggest gift from God was her love for children. She often served in Children’s Ministry as a church volunteer. She also served as a nanny to her grandchildren and many other children she always loved as her own. She loved and was incredibly devoted to her 3 children and 5 grandchildren, as well as her niece and grand niece and grand nephews. She doted on them all and taught them her enduring love of the Lord. Eva also loved working in her flower bed and had an impressive green thumb. Her favorite sports teams were the Dallas Cowboys & the Arkansas Razorbacks & her favorite football player was Roger Staubach. Eva had a very successful career as a law enforcement officer (or “LEO” as she fondly referred to it). She was one of the first female LEOs in Texas, Oklahoma & Arkansas. She finished out her career as a LEO in Wynne, where she also served as a juvenile intake officer. She is survived by her son, Jeff Creager and wife Mae of Wynne, brother, Bob Burns and wife Dee of Sherwood, sister, Lynn Burns, daughter-in-law, Cindy Capes of Texas, grandchildren, Randy Capes Jr. and wife Sunny of Fate, Texas, Brittany Baucom and husband Caleb of Rockwall, Texas, Cynthia Boyd and husband of Cave City, Arkansas, Cameron Creager of Cave City, Arkansas, and stepgranddaughter, Amanda Drum of Wynne, Arkansas, and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sons, Randy Capes and Coben Creager, brother, Artis Burns and parents Reuben and Hazel Burns. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, 10 AM until 11 AM at Kernodle Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11 AM with burial in Slocum Cemetery.
