William Doyle Cook, Jr.

It is with sadness and joyous hope that we share the passing of our brother, William Doyle Cook, Jr. 59, of Wynne. Doyle Jr. passed away Thursday, January 23, 2025, at home surrounded by his family. Doyle leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, helpfulness and unforgettable memories. Doyle, Jr, was born on January 27, 1965, in Memphis, Tennessee, to the late William Doyle Cook, Sr. and Mable Goodwin Cook. He was a shining light that made our family complete. Doyle was the first down syndrome graduate of Wynne High School in 1987 and never slowed down. His talent for volunteerism and his dedication to his church, friends and family were truly inspiring. Doyle was an honorary volunteer fireman and volunteered as co-chairman on the local postal service annual food drive. He loved to fish, deer hunt, swim, bowl and he studied taekwondo. Doyle was an avid Elvis and Dallas Cowboy fan. He was a collector of many things: Elvis and Dallas Cowboy memorabilia, Indians, St. Louis Cardinals, baseball card, Civil War memorabilia and knives. His room was his own museum of sorts, and he was happiest there among his collections. Doyle, Jr. was a lifelong member of Wynne First Assembly of God where he was a member of the Royal Rangers and served as the Lieutenant Commander. Doyle was proud of his Indian heritage and spent time researching both sides of his family tree. He was loved by everyone and loved his family, friends, and church family. He is survived by his sisters, Jeanie Curtner and husband Dan of Wynne, Neda Hodges and husband Matt of Wynne, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of friends. His love will live on in our hearts forever. Pallbearers will be Nate Hodges, Alan Bostick, Hank Bostick, Eli Jordan, Lane Goodwin, and Michael Hirons. Honorary pallbearers are Bentley Pulley and Adam Bostick. A life celebration will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at 2 PM at Kernodle Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Frames and Rev. Bob Fant officiating. Friends and family are welcome to visit from 1 pm until 2 pm before the service. Burial with fireman’s honor will be held at Cogbill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Jodi Lawson Memorial Scholarship fund, Wynne First Assembly of God, P. O. Box 1085, Wynne, Arkansas, 72396.
