Gary Wayne Hamlett

Gary Wayne Hamlett, 70, of Wynne, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2020, in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Gary was born in Holcomb, Missouri, on June 3, 1950, to Herrold and Virginia Mikel Hamlett. He served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam. Gary worked as a Construction Control Representative for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the Wynne Area Office, retiring in January of this year after 44+ years of dedicated Federal Service. Since then he has worked on construction of the Grand Prairie Pumping Stations as a rehired annuitant. He loved what he did for a living and loved the people he worked with. Gary loved sports. He played golf, basketball and baseball and was an avid Cardinals and Grizzlies fan. Gary is survived by his wife of 46 years, Brenda Sue Young Hamlett of the home, daughters, Karrie Leah Watts and Jeff Thomas of Wynne, Angela Deree Hill of Wynne, Meckensie Deree Watts and Allen Crane of Maumelle, Jennifer Farmer and Steven of Campbell, Missouri, son, Kevin Watts and Emily of Wynne, parents, Herrold and Virginia Hamlett of Malden, Missouri, special niece, Heather Paris and Jason of Ripley, Tennessee, son-in-law, Jason Posey of Wynne, grandchildren, Eden Mae Posey, Blake Mikel Posey and Charlotte Deree Watts all of Wynne, grandchildren, Zachary Farmer, Trenton Farmer and Malary Farmer all of Campbell, Missouri. He is also survived by his brothers, Ronnie Hamlett of Popular Bluff, Missouri, Darrel Hamlett of Malden, Missouri, and Donald Hamlett of Malden, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cassanda Sue Hamlett and sister, Janet Louise Funderburg. Visitation will be held at Kernodle Funeral Home, Wednesday, September 9, 2020, from 1 to 2 PM. Funeral services will follow at 2 PM at Kernodle Funeral Home with burial in Cogbill Cemetery.
