History & Staff
We have years of experience caring for families, from all walks of life. Each family comes to us because they know we are leaders in our profession, dedicated to excellence in service, and have the highest integrity.
Claud and Mickie had rented a two story white, wooden house at 918 East
Union Avenue for their home. The had rented a building at 107 East
Union Avenue, just across the alley from the Baus Meat Market; for their
new business, Kernodle's Undertaking Company, which later became
Kernodle Funeral Home.
Although Claud and Mickie Kernodle moved to Cross County as young people and lived in Pleasant Hill Community, this was the first time that they had lived in Wynne, Arkansas.
Claud Kernodle had just graduated from Gupton-Jones Embalming School in Nashville, Tennessee, had passed the Arkansas Embalmers Board and was the first licensed embalmer in Cross County.
Shortly after arriving in Wynne, the Kernodles purchased the first motorized ambulance that was used in Cross County. This vehicle was used as an ambulance and a hearse. Kernodle Undertaking Company offered a full line of caskets and coffins, their embalming services, full funeral services and a hearse and ambulance service.
This was the beginning of Kernodle Funeral Home...
As the children of W. Claud Kernodle and Mickie Jones Kernodle, we are proud that they wanted to offer their services to the people of Cross County and founded Kernodle Funeral Home.
For the past eighty years, The Kernodle Family has lived in Wynne, and owned and operated Kernodle Funeral Home and served you.
